Science Movie Making!
Grade: 4
Approximate lenth: 4 lessons 45 minutes each

Overview
In this lesson, students will investigate different animals and the specific environmental conditions they need to survive. They begin by observing their class turtle and discussing what types of environments a turtle can survive in. Then, they choose a card that is placed face-down on the table. Each card contains a fact about a certain animal, and each student will move into groups with people that have the same animal as them. Using the facts on the cards, along with any other information collected from the internet, each group will create, and edit a movie that informs others about thier animal's specific environmental needs.

This is a GREAT lead-in to adaptation- i.e. what adaptations about animals are necessary for their survival and how a bear in Alaska and one in Florida might differ-
Also- My horse came to Hawaii from the mainland and each year his winter coat got less and less and then finally he doesn't grow much at all...
This is a very clever blog- I wish I had these type of things available when I was first teaching...
